Chapter 2 · 30 days to the chapter deadline
- Design Refinements - Small Changes, Big Impact
Instead of listing out each of the following refinement passes I did today in separate logs I'll put them here. I spent today tidying up the work over the last few days:
- Contacts: Added responsive 2 column design for contact information along with space for multiple emails and phone numbers per contact (adding labels to help categorise these better). Also improved general design so it's inline with wider mailbox.
- Improved signature creation allowing multiple per mailbox and improved touch controls and image resizing.
- Multi-Mailbox Management: For those with multiple mailboxes I added the ability to change how each mailbox is displayed in "All Inboxes" view with tags / coloured highlighting options available to make it easier to see at a glance.
Doing this work has also made me think how I verify changes across different surfaces especially mobile with given touch targets and platform specific oddities.. I have improved my "visual-verify" workflow to include touch targets. More needs to be done on this in future so have set up a plan accordingly to audit the touch interfaces in future.
All in all a good day where a bunch of small improvements add up to a better experience overall for users. I shouldn't forget that even if a change seems small it can become part of a wider story and greater change.
