If you stop to think even for more than 2 seconds about what email is in the year 2026 it's not just simply email. It's a whole suite of interconnected apps all working and talking together. It's email but contacts and calendar.
It's one of those things I've never even thought about more than the 10 seconds it takes me to put someone's contact into my phone. I don't just go into contacts for fun. And yet it is essential to how email works in this day and age. With quick pre-filled info to company directories. It's another seemingly endless cavern I've just happened across.
It's implemented in a basic but functional form now with individual and company based address books. I don't even want to think about enterprise integrations with active directory and all that stuff...
- Redesigned Mailbox Settings
It's really a sign of this project evolving as I implement more features and find different ways of presenting data and how my view of user experience has evolved during this time. I've now implemented the mailbox settings I've been thinking about the last week or so. Seems like so long ago but progress ever continues.
I've been putting off work on extra things like filters and such because the settings modal I had before which acted more like an overlay popup rather than a dedicated page annoyed me the more I developed for it and tried to use it. Now reusing the 3 column structure from the main mailbox experience the new settings menu looks more natural and more integrated. No longer is there annoying voids of whitespace. It feels good. Onwards...
