- Attachments - Finally (With a Catch)
Continuing the list of things that are table-steaks is attachments... They're finally included as an essential part of the "mailbox experience" and work well within the confines of Cloudflare Email Sending. The thing I have to remember is that... 5MB max... not just for attachments but just for the whole message (including signatures). I mean for most people you can say it doesn't matter but when the standard is 20-25MB and that's what business people are used to (sending invoices - especially PDFs) it becomes harder to get around that this specific limitation.
Attach as many files / pictures as you want as long as it's under 5MB...
How it looks on the recipient's sideMaybe it's the case that I have to now think about implementing Postie.drive / Post.box / Parcel (keeping on the post type branding) or something like that. That when someone updates something which is over the 5MB (or would push the combined total over the limit) then it would say "hey that files is too big, do you want to upload it to Parcel and send the person a link instead?" for which after upload is complete it sends the link... I don't know how that would fly. Leaning towards parcel as the name because that's like "too big to fit through the mailbox" sorta thing.
I keep having to remind myself that this Postie is a marathon and not a sprint. Yes with the state of AI ("SI" lol) I could easily have vibed out this complete platform from start to finish including all of the standard expected features, not understand it and it work mostly fine including attachments and all but then where's the fun in that. I have to keep reminding myself not to be lazy and have fun. Even though I may not completely understand every bit of code (especially as Postie gets more complex) I can say I've spent time building this up bit by bit and broad understanding is better than no understanding of just letting some AI do all the work for me.
