- Fixed Problem with Worktree Setup
I feel like that guy in the old saying that spends too much time polishing his tools that he doesn't actually make anything. I feel like I'm taking one step forward and 3 steps back still getting stuck on the "creating the dev environment stage".
Needless to say I am not happy. Worktrees are a cool concept and all but between the gymnastics you have to do to set up and make sure things like packages and variables and some untracked files are copied over to it's just a mess. I thought I had fixed this the other day but then I find that between non-interactive shell limitations and general Agent wierdness I am stuck back at this stage of polishing my tools.
Hopefully now this is the last time locally I have to change this "developer environment" and worktrees now "just work" but who knows. The work around I did also seems to have resulted in some hacky thing with API keys I need to provision my agent. I know we're at the start of this and there's secrets managers and all but damn... what a mess.
All I can do is scope the API keys to specific IPs and hope for the best. I wish there was a way to easy do secrets management for agents without having to go about polishing my tools (setting up a new service and wasting more time) but Christ.
Maybe I'm just feeling extra defeated because I know that in the next few days I'll finally do that migration to the Postie account away from my personal/business account. I'm tired Bob.
